Love All Day presents the totally sui generis debut long playing album from Mode Hexe, the newest project by Chicago based drummer and electronic musician, James Wetzel. Wetzel’s instrumental work as a drummer has been deeply intertwined in Chicago’s experimental music scene for a number of years, most notably in noise-rock stalwarts, Melkbelly – but he’s also had a concurrent solo practice of creating skittering and rhythmically kinetic electronic pieces, which the present album reveals to the public for the first time. Laced with a meticulous sense of sound design that juxtaposes frenetic but intricately arranged percussive patterns and beats within a typically enveloping & soft bed of sound. An homage to footwork, acid, and pure noise while also managing to be extremely contemporary, it both honors Chicago’s rich experimental and dance lineages while boldly pushing them forward.
